1996 GMC Jimmy fuse blows

#4 fuse keeps blowing. No gauges, battery bypasses alternator and drains battery. Can I bypass the gauges and connect the alternator to the battery? Changed the ignition coil checked all wiring no shorts there. Can the- ignition switch be bad?

don't try to shortcut anything, check to see why your gauge fuse is blowing especially if you recently installed something check for a wire being drilled through. then check the fuseible links in pic I've pointed out that may be why it doesn't charge.
