How do I repair my column shifter? My friend ended up parking my 1996 ford ranger in reverse and now it won't park. when i put it into park it says park but its really stuck in reverse. The only way I can park the truck now is if I push the column shifter up with light force so that it can grab the gear. Any suggestions? I would just replace the part but I don't know what part I need to replace nor what its called.

first, check the cable adjustment. if it is correct then you need a shift rail for the column.
