Whirling squeaking noise

It just rained. I went out to start my f250 and it is making a whirling high pitch noise. Any thoughts?

fi your engine won't turn over it's probably the starter drive is shot on the starter. you'll need to replace the starter.

We just replaced the starter and the engine does start. It's just making that loud whirling sound.

disconect your fan belt and start the truck. if the noise stops check the alternator for noise or one of the belt pulleys or the tensioner.
