Steam is coming into the cab; the cooling system is losing water, and the temp. gauge is getting too high in a short amount of time, after I had just filled it. What is the problem. What should I have replaced.

If it's coming into the cab, then you likely have a bad heater core. You can pressure test the system to find out.
