My 1996 ford explorer idles really low and if I let it idle after a minute it dies. I did just recently replace my head gasket. But what do I need to do so the engine doesnt cut out?

It could be several things. Check for the basics first. Check for vacuum leaks, make sure the intake, throttle body. Are all properly torqued. Check to make sure you have proper fuel pressure.
