I have a 1996 Ford Explorer it does not Move.

Hi I have a 1996 ford explorer it does not move when I put it on drive but when I put it on 2 it moves after it moves iI go back to drive and it works fine until I stop it wont move on drive is this the shift solenoid thats bad if yes please can some one tell me which is the one to replace. Thankyou.

Is the check engine light on?

Yes, it could be a solenoid but it needs to be checked first as it could be the wiring harness, solenoid or a valve in the valve body

Hi, thank you Roy for your advice, just one more thing, which shift solenoid would be for the drive, if that were the case, be 1, 2, or 3.

They are for 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 and overdrive.

I think it is more of a valve issue than solenoid.
