about auto transmission slipping

it shifts in 1st ok then it seems to go into passing gear and shift way down in a lower gear.when you push on the gas it speeds up but dont want to shift all the time could the transmission be going out or could it be a sensor

Sounds like its an internal problem have it check further such as the governor and throttle pressures-
