When you select drive is there any hint or motion? any noises and does the speedo still show speed with power on in gear?

This will possibly be a failed pump, torque converter or a stuck valve in the vale body, you can check the pump by removing the cooler lines and running in gear, place lines in a bucket, is ther any fluid flow, it should flow at a reasonable rate.
