My ford contour will not stay running while idiling. Just had a new battery and muffler and tailpipe installed and that's all! Up till then, it ran very smooth. What gives? The only way I can keep it running while stopping is to shift into neutral and keep my foot on the gas. HELP!

The computer may need to relearn if the battery was out. That shouldn't take too long. If that doesn't happen, check for vacuum leaks and the idle air control valve (IAC). Make sure the mechanic reconnected the O2 sensors on the exhaust and nothing has been damaged.
