i have a 96 ford conture it was ova heating nand stopped running. replaced water pump and now wont start turning ova but not firing?

Check the cylinders if it has coolant if so could mean headgasket, cracked head or block-

Your info says its 4 cylinder with 3.0 L
if its 3.0 that is 6 cylinders do a compression test
if its 4 cylinders and you had just changed the water pump
timing belt had to be moved for water pump replacement

remove spark plugs to check for coolant inside the cylinders and Not the valve covers
