96 ford contour

my 1996 ford contour wont idle on its own. The problem started after it over heated and then the head gasket was replaced. All the electrical wiring under the hood is crusty and cracked.

Check the idle air control motor and check for vacuum leaks. If everything looks crusty and cracked, it sounds like you could just have a vacuum leak.
