96 Bronco Not Starting/Smoky Too

Hey there...I have a 96 Ford Bronco XLT v8 5.0L engine. The truck had been running fine until about a month ago. Left sitting in my garage, I had not started it up in a couple of weeks. Since then, the battery and check engine light come on as I turn the key to start the Bronco. Knowing I had the same problem this past summer, I charged the battery up and even replaced the positive terminal. That did not fix the problem. As I turn the ignition the Bronco will fire up then die almost automatically. Turning the ignition again then pressing the gas, the engine will fire up then dies once I take my foot off the gas pedal. Can anyone tell me what the issue could be? I too notice white smoke from the exhaust when I have my foot on the gas pedal...

The white smoke usually indicates coolant getting into the combustion chamber and getting burned. It could be related to a bad head gasket or intake gasket. Next, the idle is controled by the idle air control solenoid (IAC). It is on the throttle body. Remove it and check for operation. Finally, check the basics such as fuel pump pressure, vacuum leaks...
