My car won't stay running when started

I have a 1996 Dodge van. When I start it, it starts for a second and then stalls. It won't run unless I have my foot on accelerator. I take my foot off the gas and it stalls.

hi jayne, is there a check engine light on ? I think your problem is the idle air control valve, whether it needs to be cleaned or replaced will have to be seen, that with a good throttle body cleaning should clear you up. however, it wouldnt hurt to test fuel pressure when this stalling episode happens
