Can the engine be interchanged with a newer year

I have 1996 dodge intrepid would I beable to take the motor out and use it in a 2001 intrepid that has a blown motor r they the same

We only recommend direct fit parts. What happens when you change years, even if the engine is the same size, there always seem to be differences. They change sensor locations and types all the time which lead to problems. If the engine is a different size, everything needs changeds, computer, vacuum harness, wiring harness, mounts, possible transmission...
