I have removed my old one its damanged so i bought a second hand one if i select it in gear and turn drive shaft the main shaft that goes in your clutch does not turn what could the problem be?

It should be able to turn-could be an engagement sleeve or a synchronizer problem-

When gears are engaged, the clutch has to be depressed for the main shaft to turn, ie if the engine is not running.
