1996 Chrysler Town and Country electrical?

this is my 2nd town & country, other is a '01 & has the exact same problems. directional won't always work, radio/clock won't always work, blinks/fade/doesn't come on at all. back vent windows won't always open & close. My '01 had it happen with the front windows & all the doors.

but none of it on a regular basis. no rhyme or reason.

suggestions?

All of these circuits are related to the ignition switch. The radio is the biggest clue. First check the terminals in the connector to see if any are blackened and overheated. If two are, those can be cut out of the melted connector, then two new terminals can be pushed in separately. You'll also want to replace about 4" of those two wires because overheating them makes them hardened and difficult to solder to. You can crimp the terminals to the new wires but solder them too. To splice the new pieces to the old wires, don't twist the ends together. Slide the strands into each other, push any sharp points down, solder those joints, then seal them with heat-shrink tubing. Never use electrical tape. It will unravel into a gooey mess on a hot day. Also replace the switch. You don't need to replace the lock cylinder or keys.

If the connector terminals appear to be okay, just suspect the ignition switch.
