Have you checked for spark and fuel pressure? Do you hear the fuel pump run for one second after turning on the ignition switch?

Thank you and yes I hear the fuel pump running after turning on the ignition switch. I'm a women who lives alone in an appartment so i'm not sure what to do at this point. I don't want to have my car towed to a garage if this is something that can easily be fixed right in the parking lot......Thanks again for any advice you may have for me.

The two most common causes are a defective crankshaft position sensor and camshaft position sensor. I can walk you through a test procedure if you have a test light or digital voltmeter.
