My 1996 Impala SS, V8 automatic with 117,000 miles hesitates on acceleration. It's okay going down the road, but once you've stopped at a light, when you accelerate there's nothing there, then it catches and your fine. It doesn't do it at every stop, but at times it can be really bad, it take awhile to catch and start moving. I had just had my transmission rebuilded last week. I hope you can help, this vehicle already costed me a fortune in repairs.

Could be caused by one of the following below

Catalytic converter.
Fuel injectors dirty/sticking.
Mass airflow sensor/Airflow meter.
Throttle position sensor.
Crankshaft position sensor
Knock sensor
Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
EGR Valve
Fuel pressure regulator leaking or defective fuel pump.
Fuel contamination.
Foul/defective spark plugs.
Open spark plug wires.
Ignition coil/Coil packs defective.
Incorrect ignition timing.
Cap and rotor.

Note:If it doesn't apply disregard it and keep testing.

Start with a tune up first, then check ignition timing. Replace spark plugs and spark plug wires, Cap and rotor, then do sensors
start with Throttle position sensor, and then do Knock sensor.
Be sure Catalytic converter and
Oxygen sensor are good before buying new ones.
