Chevy Corsica smells like gas fumes when driving with heater on. What is causing this?

We were sent to a muffler shop to check if it was related to muffler problem. They said it was possibly a leaking fuel injector and not an exhaust problem.

Could be running too rich and the gas vapor is going thru the firewall
