1996 Chevrolet Cheyenne engine cut off

scan for codes first then check wiggle test at crank sensor or take it out and clean the sludge off of it. it' snear the timing chain

scanned for codes, P0102 it's the mass or volume air flow, only code it's giving. will try the wiggle test at the crank censor. will follow up.

Nothing is loose. Stumped, and running out of patience

if you have another key try that if it starts you need anew key . it may be the ignition switch, other than that have a pro look at it.

The key isn't required to run my truck, could that be a problem? I'eve had it for about 5 years now and as long as you don't roll it all the way back it won't be required.
Got an opinion from a mechanic, he suggested the distributor, because the problem started happening every so-often and became more frequent until it stops starting completely.
He told me he's done a complete motor swap, used old parts from before ( distributor) and the same problem occurred until it was replaced.
Any thoughts or insight?

pull the cap off of distributor and see if you can move rotor in either direction. if you can the gear has torn the teeth off of it so you'll need another dist.

it has about 2 degrees of movement, some say it's common, it's also stiff while trying to turn it, what do you think?
looked up some more on my problem it's recommended I change my cam position sensor,
i just went out and pulled it off, the A and B pins have corrosion on the bottom, may this be it?

the 2 degrees is pretty common if the gear was bad you would know it. not sure about corrosion but clean it off and use dielectric grease that should cure it. what is your fuel pressure? should be 60-66 psi.check coil wire leading to dist -big one- for resistance these will go bad. also check wire harness between p/s pump/block may have worn through and white wire leading to ignition tach lead to inside car for grounding out. Other than that I have no other suggestions nor comments.
