The temperature is controlled by the use of an air mix door that is operated by an electric motor/actuator. This door can be jammed or the actuator can be inoperative or have stripped plastic gears internally.

They are buried well under the dash and very difficult to access.

look under drivers seat from the back. you will see the air duct loose.you need to slide it up in place.make sure the cut off door are working and the same amount of air is coming out the vents.what about center vent?the left vent may have a loose duct and blowing inside dash.they all get the same air.

I'm sorry but a dropped air vent is not going to heat the air.

its blowing cold from the r/side vent.it should be cold on the l/side and center too.the same air goes to all the vents so it cant blow a/c out of one vent and heat out the others.thats why i asked him about vent volume of air.we also need to know if hot air or heated air is coming out.

No, that's not true at all. It is equipped with driver and passenger temp controls and has independent blend doors for each side. One can be working correctly and the other not. Very common problem that you should already be familiar with.
