A/C TURNING ITSELF FROM AC

The ac in my 1996 Cadillac randomly switches from AC to Econ. The battery has to be disconnected and then reconnected for ac to work again. Would like to know what is wrong and how I can fix it. Thank you.

THERE is a pressure problem.most likely on the hi side pressure line sensors.they need to be checked

That merely means that the control module has sensed a problem and shut the system down. It then records a code to identify the problem. When you disconnect the battery, you are merely erasing the diagnostic history and starting over which is not the right thing to do. It was shut down to protect the system. This can happen for many different reasons. the most common is simply being low on refrigerant but it needs to be diagnosed properly.
