96 Caddy Deville: What temp does it overheat

96 Caddy Deville: What temperature is the coolant when the car overheats? My car consistently runs at 231-235. If the car is running more than 45 minutes it can go into high 240's.

That is too high. THe engine should stay between 195 and 210. I recommend having the thermostat replaced and flushing the cooling system. The factory thermostat opens fully at 195 degrees F.

If it goes beyond 220degs and not dropping at this temperature the cooling fan should be On-Check and test the thermostat and coolant temperature sensor-
