Just above the water pump is a pipe, with a sharp elbow, that goes into an unknown thing. The pipe has open space around it so that a steady drip inside can be observed, when the engine is warm and running. I need to determine what this is, and what the fix is. At first I thought it was the water pump, but such does not seem to be the case. Is there a picture on the Internet and a procedure to resolve this problem?

If I am thinking of the correct pipe, it goes into the water pump. When you remove it, there is an O-ring that is on it. Chances are that is bad and needs replaced.
