1996 Buick Century Does Anti Lock Brake Light Stay On Tracktion Control Kicks

Why does the anti-lock brake light stay on and the tracktion control kicks in for no reason when lightly applying the brake preventing stoping and then it will catch real hard?

It sounds like you have a bad sensor at one of the wheels and the computer thinks the wheel is locking up. The best thing to do is have the computer scanned for trouble codes. Most parts stores will do it for free. That should give you the cause of the problem.
