ABS and brake pad failure light comes

Audi A4 B5 1996 model. Light goes off if ignition is turned on and off. ABS sensors have been replaced. Problem recurs after a few days.

ignition is turned off and then restarted. But it comes back on after a while. Computer scanning shows sensor fault and have changed the sensor. It is okay for a while after "changing the faulty sensor fault and fault erased".

mechanic feels its the abs pump unit that's faulty and needs replacement as wheel speed sensors have been changed.
Wiring and connectors have been checked already.
