power windows don't work

none of the windows work, I started on the driver side and purchased a new motor but it is still doing the same thing. I get power to the motor but it only goes 1 direction, it lowers it but won't go up. where should I start looking for the problem?

It sounds like the switch is bad. You should get power in one wire for the up, and the other for the down.

I know this is an old post, but for others reading this...

Broken wires in the door jam are common on these VWs at this age.

Open the door, peel-back the accordion tube in the door jam and
look for broken wires... repair as necessary.
