1995 Toyota Lexon Car Randomly Started Making Chugging Noise Coming Muffler

The car has randomly started making a chugging noise coming from the muffler, & a minor tick under the bonnet but I don't think its a big end bearing., the noise decreases & sometimes stops completely when I accelerate & has back fired a couple of times but not often, no overheating, no oil or water loss & is running quite poorly.. What could it be?

Only diagnosing the problem would tell you what it could be. Guessing is too much work for me.

Seems like a misfiring.
