I have a 95 toyota camry with a 2.2/2200 motor and need to know how do u check a distributor's components to see if you are getting fire from it. I checked to see if I was getting fire at the end of one of the spark plug wires there was no spark so I checked inside distributor all looks ok but I found a small amount of oil just inside the bottom of the cap

Thats the issue with them. The oil comes u the shaft and fails the distributor. Common failure.
Testing is done with a scaop. I think you already have your answer.

Thanks for a response. Testing is done with a scaop? Not sure what a scaop is, by the way can a distributor be taken apart and internal parts be replaced or should the whole distributor be replaced
