Sometimes starts and sometimes doesn't changed crank shaft sensor and plugs and all that and when it cranks over have to give gas to start

Sounds like a bad coolant temp sensor the bottom one I would also check the inside of the connector if the terminals are blue or green instead of silver you will need to replace the connector also.
