Car runs great but the security light is on not blinking how do I get this light to go off

Try a different key and if still on then have it scanned to see what is wrong with it.

I 'mnot sure on that one it may have what was called obd1.5 I think you would need a tech 1from gm for that one. 96 everyone went to OBD2 and if yours is an autoparts scanner it won't work anyhow as they only pick up engine/trans codes

If it has a 16pin connector it would work but I think yours will be 14

The one I got I did not get from the auto parts store got it straight from auto X-ray it will monitor rpms temp and thing like that I will try a nother switch I know that won't work but if you are carefull you can change the chip from one switch to another switch Thanks for the help I won't for get this

And it is a 16 pin or I can change cords and have the one for 96 and up

It has to be able to monitorthings like bcm's or any module in the car if you paid less than $4000 normally it won't do it.

Kown I told you the car run fine but I fould out if I let it run long enough it just cuts off but will crank right back up I scanned it said something about a passkey or something like that what do think it is
