how to ground from my ALDL connector

I intent to replace my IACV; and was told it would need to be reseted after replacement; how would I reset it at groungd from my ALDL connector?

Ignition of disconnect Negative Batt cable for 10-20 sec. reconnect turn ignition on 2 sec. do not start then off 10 sec. then start if idle in spec. done if not repeat
