How do i detach the drain tube?

I'm intending to replace, th eheater core; I was told that i would have to detach the drain tube; give insight for this; please!

Removal & Installation T

1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain cooling system. Raise and support vehicle. Remove drain tube. Disconnect heater hoses from heater core. Lower vehicle.
2. Remove left and right sound insulators from below instrument panel. Remove steering column opening filler. On Skylark, remove console (if equipped). On all models, remove floor outlet duct. Remove heater core
cover and heater core. See Fig. 10 . To install, reverse removal procedure. Fill cooling system.
the drain tube will either have a clamp on it or just pull it off.

Drain tube is plugged into the heater core housing and is easily detached by pulling at it. Getting access to it is the main problem.
