95 nissan pathfinder 5 speed 6 cyl 97,700 miles on it...we are having really really cold weather...single and teens..pathfinder is getting me where i need to go, but the idle kicks up to 2.5 or so at a stop. Can't kick it down, and while in high idle temp reading rises quickly. I kick the defrost or heater on high and it drops quickly. No steam that i see. When idle around 1000, no temp prob. Have been using the 4x here and there ...working great. So, here is what i can think of and i am no expert...thermostat, timing chain/belt, ..that's it for me. Suggestions welcomed!!

No to the items listed. If the idle is looping, have you checked the idle air control valve? Has the check engine light come on?

leave the expert comments to me, considering the cold weather you need to lubricate the cables on the throttle control valve, due to the cold weather I think it is effecting the controls, how was it in the summer?
