My 1995 Mitsubishi magna wagon. (On rego papers it says MODEL MAGN94B)
I have had it about 3 years and it didn't come with a service manual.
I have always put 20-40 motor oil in it. My old mechanic never put on his invoices what oil he put in it.
My new mechanic has written 15-40.
I need to go get more oil as it is leaking and just wondering do I get 20-40 or 15-40.
Thank you.

The correct oil is also listed in the owner's manual, and you may find it on the dip stick or on the emissions sticker under the hood. The first number for the viscosity refers to how the oil flows in cold weather. The 15 weight will be thinner than the 20 weight when it's cold. They'll both be nearly the same and lubricate equally well when they're warm. Common oils in really cold weather, like below 0 degrees F, are 10W-20 and 10W-30. Anything starting with a "15W", or especially a "20W" are used in warmer climates. If you're in doubt, go with the 15W-40 to insure it flows easily at engine start-up. Those first couple of minutes are when almost all engine wear takes place.
