shudders on take off

My 1995 Magna TS V6 wagon When it's slowing down, there is a thunk from under the car and a shudder. Could this be the transmission/gearbox? new starter motor. not sure what else it could be, possibly spark plugs?

More likely to be transmission or drivetrain related.
