New cv joints are very expensive, often over $400.00. Typically your mechanic will install a remanufactured half shaft at a much lower cost. I've purchased Chrysler half shafts for as little as $80.00 exchange but $150.00 is common. Chrysler and Mitsubishi have a lot in common. It should take about an hour to replace the shaft. If just the outer boot is torn, it takes about another half hour to replace just that boot but the parts will cost less.
