my car is a 1995 mercury tracer trio. my air bag idiot light flashes a code of 53. am i to assume the airbag is at fault or is the code for some other problem. your assistance is greatly appreciated. thansk. and have a wonderful thanksgiving day.

Code 53 is related to 53 Primary Crash Sensor Circuits Resistance to Ground or Air Bag Diagnostic Fault.
This should be invistagated by a person who is qualified with SRS systems, mishandling may result in airbag deployment which can cause serious injury, while this light is on the SRS system will not deploy in a collision.
