why does my car idle rough

when ever i stop at a light or stop sign my car shakes bad but when it is in park or neutral it doesnt shake what could the problem be. I was thinking of getting a tune up would this fix the problem because i was told it might

could be a vacuum leak. could be a missfire from plugs.

is the check engine light on??
