Not sure of all details: Service center wants $3000 to recondition pistons, head gasket and whatever else is in line with that sort of work. And a fuel pump

Approximate cost to install a rebuilt engine?
Thank you

SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE TUNNEL VISIONED WITH THIS CENTER

THE BIG GUYS WILL EAT YOU ALIVE!

IT'S BEEN OVER 2 YEARS. STUFF AIN'T CHANGED MUCH AROUND HERE

MY DAD HAD HIS 1986 3.8L (V-6) THUNDERBIRD ENGINE COMPLETELY REBUILT 100% ALL OF THE ENGINE GOODIES (WIRES, PLUGS, WATERPUMP, ETC. ALL OF THE GOODIES) REPLACED WHILE IN THE PROCESS.

$1500. DAD'S ENGINE AT THE AUTOMOTIVE MACHINE SHOP AND ALL PARTS

"IN AND OUT" OF THE CAR $200. BY A VERY REPUTABLE LOCAL FELLER WHO WORKS AT A SMALL REPUTABLE SHOP (FOR SOMEONE ELSE) THEN DOES THIS "ON THE SIDE"

. JUST SO YOU KNOW. MOST OF THE TIME, THIS STUFF IS SENT TO THE MACHINE SHOP, YOU'LL BE PAYING THE "CENTER" AS A MIDDLEMAN

I DO JEEP CJs. WITH MY OWN STUFF, OR AIDING A JEEP BUDDY, I ONLY BUY PARTS AND PAY THE MACHINE SHOP. MY LABOR IS SORTA FREE. EVEN DOING THIS, I'VE HAD 258 INLINE 6 CYLINDERS MACHINED, FLYWHEELS RESURFACED, ALL.I MEAN ALL NEW PARTS (NOT NORMALLY MACHINED) TO INCLUDE A NEW CLUTCH. OF COURSE, I/ WE ASSEMBLED THE ENGINE, TOOK IT IN AND OUT. LAST ONE WAS "MAKING" A FRIEND DO IT ALL, WITH ME SORTA AS BEING HIS INSTRUCTOR/ HELPER. TOTAL ACTUAL COST WAS AROUND $1600. HE BOUGHT ME MULTIPLE BREAKFASTS, LUNCHES, DINNERS AND "MOUNTAIN DEW" WAS CONSTANTLY ON HAND

WANNA KNOW HOW TO FIND A "DECENT PLACE" TO GET A GOOD REPAIR PERFORMED, IF YOU SEEM TO BE LOST IN THE WOODS. ONE THAT MIGHT NOT LEAVE YOU WITH THAT "SHATTERED LOOK"?. LIKE THE "NED BEATTY LOOK", IN THE MOVIE "DELIVERENCE"

SOUNDS LIKE "THE LOOK" IS REALLY CLOSE.I HOPE I CAN HELP YOU LOCATE A BETTER DEAL

YOUR TURN
