My fathers old MB S600 Coupe came home smoking from the front passenger wheel well and coolant gushing down our driveway. From what I could see the interior of the wheel well was covered in coolant almost as if some line had burst, but what was more concerning was the amount of smoke.
Any ideas on what caused this burst, if in fact thats what it was?
As an aside the car always had some issue with its oil level. Its almost as if this monstrous V12 just kept soaking it up.

Less than a quart of oil per 1K miles is considered normal. As far as the smoke, it was most likely a combination of hot coolant and that coolant hitting the exhaust manifold.
