car shaking

today i was driving my car and it suddenly started to shake,then cut off while driving down the rode. What does that mean?

Dunno the type of vehicle-if it dies going down the road and refuses to start back-up I will check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel pump-If okay check for spark and verify the valve anf ingition timing
