I have a 15595 Lincoln Continental with DTC U1039, but can not find any diagnostic procedures to aid in repairing. What is the cold definition, and how do I go about diagnosing to repair it for I believe it holds the answer to why my speedometer is not working.

1. Speedo inoperable
2. Vehicle milage frozen
3. ABS light on

That is a communication code. It means one of the computers is not communicating with the others. There is no way for you to diagnose this yourself without some very expensive equipment and replacing any of the modules will likely require factory programming so you're going to need the dealer on this one.

Could I diagnose this issue down to which controller unit is bad, ie. Is there a data wire out of the abs module I can test to confirm the ABS module is bad?

No, not without a factory scan tool or equivalent.
