†Pop the hood of the Jeep and disconnect the negative battery terminal using a wrench to loosen the nut.

Raise the Jeep up using the automobile jack and place a jack stand under the frame of the vehicle. Raise the jack stand up to the frame.

Mark the wires on the starter and solenoid using the marker and masking tape noting the correct location of each. Disconnect the wires using a wrench to loosen the nuts.

Remove all but one of the bolts from the starter using a ratchet and socket. Remove the last bolt while supporting the starter so it doesn't simply fall out. It's much heavier than it looks and could cause injury if it falls.

Put the new starter in place on the engine and tighten the bolts using the socket and ratchet. Reconnect the wires according to the labels you made and tighten the nuts with the wrench. Remove the jack stand from under the Jeep and lower the Jeep back to the ground.

Reconnect the negative battery terminal and tighten the nut with the wrench. Start the Jeep to test the installation of the new starter.
