Yes, the crank shaft has already been checked and the "coil", I asked about it and they said it has already been addressed and not it. :-(

Yes, folks this jeep is a problem!

Spark plugs have been changed. I asked about the wires themselves. The mechanic that has been working on my jeep went home early. He was exhausted! Poor guy! Probably has a migraine! The manager said he would ask about the wires tomorrow morning and let me know. I did read to them what you wrote.
Thanks

So I had the Jeep for 2 days and now it's back in the shop today cause it won't start. Well, it started but only after one of the guys came up here and put some battery power thing on it and cranked on it for 20 minutes. Even then when it finally started to turn over, it didn't want to stay running for about 5 minutes of his working on it!

I did ask if they replaced the spark plug wires- yes they did. He mentioned that he was going to put another new coil of some sort on it and see if that would help. I am just so frustrated here! Why are all these jeeps driving around and mine isn't! Help!

After they got the jeep started yesterday, we drove it to the repair shop. They had it plugged in all night (as did we) and it did not start this morning. So everything that has been done so far ($4000 worth!) Has had nothing to do with the starting problem. Someone must be able to figure this out!

So the jeep cranks but wont start its getting gas and its getting spark and the timing is dead on we cant figure it out but I took the coil wire off and put a plug in it and grounded it and cranked it over and it fires really slow its like fire wait 4 to 5 seconds then it fires again then another 4 to 5 seconds and then fires should it be like really fast like 1 second between fires. We have replaced the crank shaft sensor and plugs and distributor cap and button.

I think you may need to remove the cap on the distributor and watch it as you crank. Sounds like the distributor itself may be bad or the gear at the end of it is worn out. Also check for a weak coil pack.

IN DETAIL TELL US WHAT YOU HAVE TINKERED WITH/ REMOVED/ PUT BACK ON/ ETC- NO CHEATING-SPILL YOUR GUTS!

MR. PLUG WIRE/ SPARK PLUG IS ONLY GONNA FIRE ONCE EVERY TWO REVOLUTIONS OF THE CRANKSHAFT

. OR ONCE, EVERY FULL ROTATION OF THE ROTOR BUTTON, (WHICH IS THE SAME THING AS 2 REVS)

IF YOUR ENGINE IS CRANKING OVER SLOW, THEN THE SPARK OF THAT ONE PLUG WILL BE SLOW TO IGNITE TOO

HAVE YOU SCREWED WITH THE TIMING? LIKE LOOSENED THE BOLT UNDER THE DISTRIBUTOR/ TWISTED/ OR EVEN REMOVED THE DISTRIBUTOR?

IF EVERYTHING IS LIKE IT ALWAYS HAS BEEN, SHOOT A ONE SECOND BLAST OF STARTER FLUID OR A SQUIRT BOTTLE WITH A LITTLE GAS IN IT (GIVE IT 2 SQUIRTS) INTO THE THROTTLE BODY THEN STICK THE BREATHER HOSE BACK ON AND GIVE HIM A TRY!

REPORT BACK WITH WHATEVER RESULTS HAPPEN

I have a 1994 Jeep Wrangler, 6 cyl, 4.0, manual 5 speed trans. It sat in storage for a while and I recently pulled it out to get it back on the road. After changing all the fluids and flushing the radiator, I jump started it; the battery was completely dead. It cranked right up and I drove it for about an hour to ensure all was well. I noticed a fuel leak at the tank so I dropped it and repaired a loose fuel line. When I asked my son to hook the jumper cables up so I could jump it, he connected them backwards; my fault for not double checking. It blew both alternator fuses, but didn't appear to do much else. When I tried to start it after the fuses were replaced I noticed the fuel pump wasn't running. I pulled the fuel pump and tested it with a good battery, it checks good. My issue is that the engine wants to crank but will not turn over. I know the following: 1. The fuel pump isn't getting any power from the fuse box under the hood. 2. Fuel filter replaced and installed correctly. 3. The fuel relay and auto shutdown relay is good, brand new. 4. All the wiring to the pump and under the hood meters good for continuity. 5. All the fuses are good. 6. I don't think the plugs are making spark. Pulled one out and cranked the motor with in grounded; no sparks. 7. Everything else (horn, wipers, lights, ect.) Works. 8. The fuel indicator in the dash works properly and displays fuel level. 9. I replaced the ignition coil with no results. 10. Check engine light is on, but do not have a tester for pre-OBD 2 system. What would cause this? Why is no power making it to the fuel pump when all the wiring and fuses are good? Why are the plugs not providing any spark? Could this be a fried computer? If someone can point me in the right direction I will be in your debt. I am an active duty Marine stationed in California. I have orders back to North Carolina and need to get this jeep running so I can get it cross country. Thanks in advance for any help.

My wrangler has a problem starting in the mornings. The moter will turn over but won, t start in the mornings when its cool. But in the afternoon when it warms up outside it will start right up. You can hear the fuel pump relay kick in when it, s warm outside and it will start. But when it, s cool outside you can, t hear the relay kick in and it won, t start.I have checked and change the relay with no luck. I have checked to see if there is power to the relay switch in the mornings when its cool and in the afternoon when its warm. I get the same thing. I think it, s a weak fuel pump.A few friends that have jeeps told me they think thats it. But there not sure. Any input would be a big help.

Try doing a pressure test on the pump? Is your jeep fuel injected? If not more likley the choke thermostat. I am answering this question just jumping around different groups. I mainly do Ford Linc, Mercs

They/you could be correct, try cycling key(w/o cranking) key on 2 sec. Then off, key on 2 sec, then off, then on 2 sec, then crank(make sure you wait @2 sec. When on and off. If it starts up fine suspect fuel pump. Have you ever changed the filter, if not I would strongly suggest try that first/or in conjunction with pump. Do you have access to a fuel pressure test guage. Try the key test to build pressure if not. Let me know what you find

I, ve changed the relay and the filter. I won, t know if it worked till it cools off tonight.I don, t have a fuel pressure tester. But when I changed the filter there seemed to be alot of pressure on the line. Is there a censor or something that could be going out? I just went to the store and it was still slow for the relay to kick in.I turned the key on and off and the next time it kicked on. So the promblem is still there. It was just cooling off a bit outside.I don, t know why this only happens when its cools off outside?

Hi, my wrangler died on me driving for the 2nd time.

94 yj 2, 5 l. 4 cyl man.

Everything seems to work but would not restart. I had a ecm changed, run with it for a week and did the same thing again.

The mecano told me that the ecm would not open the injectors. Fire is fine, fuel is fine.

Would this be an electrical problem?
Is a 2nd ecm fried?
Or does both ecm still in working order?
Anyway of checking those

Summer is running out fast and I am Jeepless.

Thanks for helping

Reggie

I have a 94 Jeep Wrangler and about a week ago my son drove it to school and went on the bus to a ballgame and was gone all day. When he returned that night the Jepp would not start.I went up to the school that night to see why it would not start. It acted like it was not getting gas so I handchoked it and got it started and got it home. It worked fine the next several days till it got cold one day, then same thing, itwould not start. I tried to hand choke it againbut couldn't get it to start. It would act like it wanted to but wouldn't.I think it is not getting gas to the carburator. Would this be the fuel pump out and if so where is it located, on the motor or in the gas tank? Please help me if you can? Thanks Charles
