My Temperature gage starts hot and drops after 15 to 20 minutes returns to normal. Fan is working, the check engine light does not come on. Engine runs fine before and after temperature gage changes. Could it be temperature sensor?

it might or it's the gauge, disconnect temp sensor with key on and see if gauge drops. if it does then it's the sensor.
