I never heard noise from the transmission before but the car now makes a roaring noise when in drive. I just recently replaced the CV axle on the drivers side which is a manual transmission type. I noticed that some fluid leaked out of the transmission when the old Axle was removed but I don't know how much leaked out. Could the noise be from low manual transmission fluid.

For manual transmission, the oil level is always higher than the axle shafts. When the axle is removed, transmission oil would leak out and you need to replenish whatever that leaked out.

There is a fill plug at side of transaxle case and lubricant level should be to bottom of fill hole.

Fill plug is most likely to be a square head threaded plug.
