My newly acquired USED CAR refused to power. The key rolled on the ignition well but the car refused to crank. I tightened up the battery head well and tried again, trying to press all the button on the dashboard, yet it still did not crank over.

Later, when I got back to retry, the ignition rolled as usual and the car starts (powered up) without doing anything. But I still did not understand why it's not cranking in the first place. It has done it for me twice.

What should I do?

This is common when the starter motor goes out which is common on these cars, here is a video that will help confirm the problem.

Here is how to change out the starter motor in case you need it, also, remove the battery and have it load started at the auto parts store.

1. On models equipped with radio coded theft protection system, refer to Vehicle Damage Warnings for system disarming and arming procedures. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable, then wait at least three minutes before continuing procedure.
3. Disconnect all electrical leads at starter.
4. Remove starter mounting bolts, then the starter.
5. Reverse procedure to install, torque starter mounting bolts to 32 ft. lbs.
6. On models equipped with radio coded theft protection system, refer to Vehicle Damage Warnings for system disarming and arming procedures. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
