I have a problem with the speedometer. It does not work. Driving today and all of the sudden it kicked in for about a mile and then went dead again. I have changed the speed sensor and the cluster. I tested for power at the speed sensor clip and it is fine. I dont know how to trace the problem or how to test for the faulty connection. It has not triggered a CEL. I need help to fix

The VSS is faulty. This is a common failure.

The VSS sometimes do not throw trouble codes and it is a two trip detection and I have seldom seen the MIL coming on for VSS problems for earlier Honda models.

Is VSS new or used? Was the pin installed correctly? Why didn't you mentioned replacing the VSS earlier? Which engine do you have?

You need to test the circuit and if no fault found, it would be the meter that is faulty.

I did mention it. VSS stands for Vehicle speed sensor. In my question I stated that I changed the speed sensor twice just to make sure that it was not the problem, I also replaced the cluster, I have a faulty wire somewhere and dont know how to find it. I was told that the orange wire is the output wire, since it has power I am assuming that it is the problem. I need to know where to check the wire at and where I can access that wire, it goes into the wiring harness but from there were does it go?

If the cruise control is working, no trouble codes and ransmission shifts correctly, the problem would most likely be between the connector at left side of instrument panel to the meter cluster. Check the splice connector and test for continuity to the meter.
