Car overheats and fan isn't working. could there be a short? in addition, my windshield wipers come on when i use right blinker and most of the time blinkers don't even work.

The multi function switch sounds bad as far as the wipers / signal. The same switch runs both. As far as the overheating, you first need to make sure the fan motor is good. Run a jumper wire from the battery to the fan motor to see if it runs. If it does, check for power to it when the engine gets hot. If there is no power, then you have to trace it down, relay, PCM, temp sensor...
